In case you missed the news, Honeywell announced that it will be keeping its global headquarters in Morris Township. The full press release is as follows:
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Honeywell will be keeping its global headquarters in Morris Township and proposes to develop its property with new office facilities, a hotel and residential units.

Gov. Chris Christie and Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno were at the Honeywell campus Thursday for the annoucement about the redevelopment project and to praise the company's intention to redevelop its global headquarters.

They called the company's decision an important economic gain for New Jersey and the region.

What was called the Main Campus Redevelopment Project will improve the use of Honeywell's real estate assets, improve the companies working environment, and make the complex more energy efficient, a release from the governor's office said. The project plans to create a mixed-use campus that will provide benefits to their employees and the greater Morris Township community, the release said.

Hundreds of construction jobs will be created in the execution of the project, as well as permanent professional and service jobs on the mixed-use campus, the release said.

Honeywell currently has about 1,200 employees at the site and may add more though it was unclear at the press conference announcing the expansion how many might be added. The company currently pays $1.7 million in municipal and county property taxes each year.

"Honeywell's brand is synonymous with the innovation and hard work our state is known for, and I am pleased that they intend to stay and grow in New Jersey," Christie said. "With today's announcement, Honeywell is showing that our state is a place where businesses, both large and small, can open, expand, and thrive."

Honeywell plans to have a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified headquarters, preserve and reuse the existing infrastructure and roadway network, and include 50 percent green space that allows wildlife to continue to live.

Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote said the company has had its global headquarters in the township for more than 50 years.

"We will be incorporating our advanced technologies with a new facility design to create a world-class, energy-efficient, contemporary global headquarters - one that is better for our customers, employees, and our hometown - right here in New Jersey," Cote said.
